Thought about this earlier today and was like.

A funny way of looking at chemicals is:
In war there's all the politics, patriotism or revenge, whatever. The more evenly matched opposing forces are, the more a potential victor would have to supplement his physical forces with military wile to ensure victory. Then, hostilities subdued, this victor can regroup. He continues in this way, exchanging troops and tricks for each success, until a more cunning (or more powerful) opponent devours him and takes his place. This is all very organic. It's like supplementing yourself with caffeine to stay awake or mdma to stay happy, whatever maneuvre the terrain calls for, you've gotta stretch those forces out just long enough until you can find that period of calm and regroup before heading off conquering again. And, while not everybody's made out for warfare, everybody is made out of chemicals.
